last night was the sleater-kinney show and it had been so long since i had seen them. people packed in tight, trying not to cough, the floor bouncing and it made me very happy that the words still mean the same things to me, all the years later.

i have been sweeping the basement stairs, pretending i am industrious and domestic, eyeing unfinished sewing projects and i feel calm, like something has finally let up.
